CSR ACTIVITY IN 2020: DONATING A SOLAR ELECTRICITY GENERATION SYSTEM AND AN ELECTRICAL-LIBRARY FOR THE PUPILS IN LANG MANH COMMUNE

In FY2019, in a Theme Teiho contest, SVC collected initiatives from all SVC staffs on CSR activity. We received dozens of suggestions and the most amazing was the idea “Creating an electrical-library for the children” because of its positive social meaningfulness and the possibility of applying Sato solution.

At first, SVC intended to support for primary schools in Dong Anh district – the place where our factory located. However, Dong Anh Education Department made plan to allocate the budget for library for all primary schools. The other schools in remote region in the North of Vietnam already got sponsor from Non-government organizations. So SVC contacted a group of charity volunteer named “Yeu Vung Cao”. They suggested Lang Manh primary school in Sung Do commune, Van Chan district, Yen Bai province.

In Sung Do, 70% of the residents are the poor and minority ethinics. The transportation condition is so bad that Vietnam Electricity Company can’t set up an electricity system for the commune. Therefore, in order to operate the e-library, there must be an electricity supply in Sung Do.

We calculated the total budget for making an e-library and a solar electricity generator. A raising fund was launched in the end of Dec, 2019. Luckily, the total expense was enough. However, when the proceeding schedule came, Covid-19 pandemic outbroke. So the operation date was delayed until 10th July 2020. On 8th Jul, there was a flash flood in Sung Do. So the volunteer team waited. Fortunately, all members was in safety.

Finally, the solar electricity system and the electrical-library was completed. From now on, the childrren in Sung Do can enjoy a wide-range of resources of education all over the world. We’re totally in joy when watching the children reading, laughing and concentrating on the information and the books in the library.
